RULES for dogs during the summer period are now in effect.

Year-round, dogs are permitted off-leash on the Mentone foreshore between Charman Road and Plummer Road. During summer dogs can be exercised off lead in Carrum from the southern end of Old Post Office Lane car park to Osprey Lane from 7.30pm to 10am. At other times there are no dogs allowed in that area.

No dogs are allowed at any time between Bay Street and Mordialloc Creek. At most other Kingston beaches dogs are allowed off-leash from sunrise to 10am and on-leash from 7.30pm to sunrise. Between 10am and 7.30pm no dogs are allowed.

Kingston mayor Steve Staikos said “we have 13km of foreshore across Kingston so there is plenty of space for all to share and enjoy visiting the beach.”

“I’m a dog owner and love taking Pepper and Kloe to the beach, but I also know many people are not comfortable around dogs.  Our focus is on ensuring everyone can enjoy our beautiful foreshore in the safest and healthiest way possible.”
