A MAN has been charged after police allegedly found a loaded gun in the backseat of his car after a pursuit in Frankston.
Police on Frankston-Flinders Road spotted a car allegedly speeding at around 9.30pm on 17 February. With the help of the Air Wing police followed the car to High Street where the man and woman inside the car got out and fled on foot.
The man and woman were subsequently arrested.
Police say that they searched the car and found a loaded handgun in a bag on the back seat.
A 51-year-old man from Rye has been charged with firearms and driving offences, and was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 1 July 2022.
The woman was released pending further enquries.
