THE fourth Kingston Woman of the Year award winner will be announced at an event next week.

The honour will be handed out at an International Women’s Day event on 11 March. 24 outstanding local women will be recognised on the day.

Kingston mayor Steve Staikos said that the award “celebrates the outstanding contribution that women in Kingston make to the community, the environment and industry.”

“Each of the nominees shows us how resilience and determination can make real-world changes for the better. These remarkable women have proven that even during a global pandemic, it is possible to make a difference to the community through their exceptional professional and personal achievements,” he said.

There are nominees in four categories. They are courageous commitment, inspiring innovation, excelling in arts and sport, and success in STEM.

The event will feature a dance from the Lehenda Ukrainian Dance Company, and a music performance by Cheltenham Secondary College students led by the 2021 Kingston Woman of the Year Award finalist Lisa Maxwell Cripps.

The free event will take place on Friday 11 March at Kingston City Hall in Moorabbin, 9.45am – 12.30pm. To book visit kingstoniwd2022.eventbrite.com. See the nominees at kingston.vic.gov.au/kwa
