PETER Scullin Reserve will transform into an outdoor cinema next week.
From March 10 to March 14, a series of classic movies will be shown at the Mordialloc reserve. They include Jurassic Park, Happy Feet, The Wizard of Oz, and Romeo and Juliet.
The Mordi Movies event begins with a showing of Hairspray, presented in partnership with the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
The events will also feature local performers, kids activities, food trucks, a candy bar, and the Kingston Arts bar.
Kingston mayor Steve Staikos said that he is excited for the event to return after last year’s COVID-19 cancellation. “We’ve all missed being out and about and catching up with friends and family over the past couple of years, and Mordi Movies provides the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
“There’s nothing quite like watching a film under the stars and we’re incredibly proud to be offering a program full of classic films and family favourites,” he said. “We’re pleased to be able to present Mordi Movies as an alternative community celebration and look forward to the return of MordiFest in the future.”
Tickets cost $5. Children under thirteen can attend for free if accompanied by an adult. Funds raised will go towards the Kingston Charitable Fund.
