Two men charged following Patterson Lakes fire

Detectives from Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit have arrested two men following an investigation into the fire at a business in Patterson Lakes on 9 February.

The two arrests follow the execution search warrants at addresses in Coburg North and Bundoora this morning.

A 19-year-old Coburg North man has been charged with intentional destruction of property by fire, criminal damage by fire, conduct endanger life, burglary, possess proceeds of crime and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

A 20-year-old Bundoora man has been charged with intentional destruction of property by fire, criminal damage by fire, conduct endanger life, burglary and prohibited person possess firearm.

The men will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

Police are not looking for anybody else in relation to the Patterson Lakes alleged arson, and the investigations into arsons at Pakenham and Deer Park remain ongoing.

The Pakenham incident saw four offenders force entry to a shopping centre on Main Street before setting fire to a tobacco store inside the centre about 1am on 3 August, 2021.

The Deer Park incident saw two offenders force entry to a tobacco store on Station Road about 3.15am on 7 August, 2021.
