A GROUP of 11 young Frankston residents have been appointed to the 2022 youth council.

The group is tasked with advocating for causes that are important to young people. Its members, who can be aged from 12 to 24, meet fortnightly.

Youth councillor Isabella Gervasoni said that one of the youth council’s goals was to help the community come together again after years of COVID-19 lockdowns.  “In 2022 I would love for the community to feel more like a family again, since we’ve been in and out of lockdown. For all of us to come back together and celebrate each other,” she said.

Previous youth councils have run anti-bullying workshops at local schools and prepared kits for people in vulnerable situations.

The 2022 youth council (pictured with Crs Nathan Conroy and Brad Hill) is: Samantha Beaumont, Oliver Robinson, David McFarlane, Mac Zamani, Peter Martin, Laura, Jessica Healy, Olivia Sutherland, Yasmine McCoy, Jorden Lancaster, and Isabella Gervasoni.
