A MAN is in custody after police allegedly found a loaded firearm and drugs in his car in Carrum Downs.

Police searched the car in a hotel car park on Hall Road at around 4pm on 10 August. After searching the car they charged a 38 year-old man from Keilor Downs with two counts of prohibited possession of a firearm, possessing ammunition without a license, and possessing a prohibited weapon without an exemption. He was also charged with one count of possessing a controlled weapon without lawful excuse, possessing a dangerous article without lawful excuse, possessing methylamphetamine, possessing methylamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing MDMA, dealing property suspected of being proceeds of crime, and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

The man was remanded by police. He will appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 14 September.
