TWO events to help encourage women to get involved with sports are being held this week.

A free multisports day is being hosted by the Strong Sisters Australia Movement in Carrum Downs this weekend.

Women and girls who attend will be able to play cricket, football, soccer, tennis, hockey, archery, and more. The day runs from 12pm to 5pm at Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve on 17 September.

The Strong Sisters Movement started as a result of the ABC documentary Strong Women.

Documentary co-creators Corinne Innes and Alexandra Gaulupeau said “the Strong Sisters Movement will help make a true impact on the welfare and positive health of Australian women, encouraging women to build their strength, improve their confidence, boost body positivity and open meaningful conversations about mental health. These Come & Try events will be an exceptional opportunity for women to get in touch with their own strength and power through a variety of sports, and learn first-hand what their bodies are capable of.”

VicHealth’s This Girl Can week is also this week. This Girl Can ambassador Miranda will help host an event at her roller derby club this week to help get more women and girls involved.

Sk8house Carrum Downs at 2 Amayla Crescent will host a come and try event on 15 September, 7pm to 8pm.
