A SMALL earthquake struck close to the coast of Frankston last week.
The earthquake struck at 5.41am on 18 September. The tremor had a magnitude of 2.4.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in Port Phillip Bay, a short distance out from Seaford Beach.
In a statement online, the Victorian SES confirmed that no damage reports had been made. “[There have been] no calls for assistance to VICSES. There is no Tsunami threat,” the statement read.
More than 300 people reported feeling the earthquake to Geoscience Australia. The national geoscience research body says that the earthquake occurred at a depth of six kilometres.
