THE enrolment process for Frankston kindergartens is under review.

Currently council considers a number of factors when it comes to kinder enrolment. They include if a child registers on time, if a child lives within the local area of the nominated kindergarten, if a child has had a sibling attend the kindergarten, and if a child’s family members are Frankston ratepayers.

The mayor Nathan Conroy said that the review would help ensure “equity”.

“Kindergarten is an important step for young children, setting a strong foundation for their educational journey. Research shows that kindergarten improves children’s health and well-being, helps them to develop strong social skills and encourages a love of learning,” he said. “Consulting the community means better understanding the needs of our families. It ensures equity in access to education regardless of background.”
