AN ex-Olympian who was born in Frankston is overseeing a new group of Olympic hopefuls.

Former athlete Craig Mottram is the head coach of On Athletic Team Oceania, a team of athletes hoping to compete at the highest level.

Five members of the team have been announced – Olympian Ben Buckingham, World Championship competitors Claudia Hollingsworth and Tess Kirsopp-Cole, Commonwealth Games runner Keely Small, and 1500m hopeful Maudie Skyring.

Mottram says it is an honour to be training the next generation. “I’m honoured to coach, train and guide these exceptional runners at a club like OAC that provides athletes and coaches with the resources and support needed for success,” he said. “There is so much potential in this group and I’m eager for all the big milestones and challenges we  will conquer together as we look toward the 2024 Paris Olympics.”
