THE Kingswood golf course in Dingley Village has reportedly been sold to a property developer. The golf course at 179-217 Centre Dandenong Road was bought by AustralianSuper for $125 million in 2014. Its plans to build around 800 dwellings on the land spent years in the planning process, and were subject to widespread community backlash.

AustralianSuper announced plans to sell the site late last year around the same time that planning minister Sonya Kilkenny confirmed that the land would be rezoned for residential development. On Monday, 4 March, the Australian Financial Review reported that the 53.4-hectare Dingley Village site had been sold to Satterley Property Group for between $215 million and $220 million. Its CEO Nigel Satterley told the newspaper that the land would be redeveloped into a “master planned community”.

The state government’s rezoning of the site late last year was opposed by Kingston Council (“Golf course rezoning disappointment” The News 27/9/23). AustralianSuper’s original development plans for the site received more than 8000 community objections.

Satterley Property Group was contacted for comment.
