A SERIES of huge murals will transform Mordialloc’s industrial laneways this month. Street art festival Wall to Wall has teamed with Kingston Council for the project. Seven Australian street artists and three international artists will team up to paint murals along Lamana Road and its surrounding areas between 26 and 28 April.
The project has been curated by Shaun Hossack from Melbourne street art collective Juddy Roller. He said “Melbourne is known as a mecca for street art but still lacks well-curated areas where major artworks can be viewed one after another, like an outdoor gallery. The scale of Wall to Wall is unprecedented in Melbourne’s beachside suburbs and will help cement Mordi Village Arts and Cultural Precinct as a beacon of creativity and community engagement.”
Kingston mayor Jenna Davey-Burns has thrown her support behind the project. She said “street art has emerged as one the leading forms of expression without bounds, out there on the walls instead of stuck inside four walls.”
Artists Smug, Adnate, Celeste Mountjoy, George Rose, and Zoer are among those set to work on major murals in Mordialloc.
On 27 April, Wall to Wall will host a block party festival at Urban Ground. DJs, food trucks, market stalls, and more will feature. Urban Ground is at 1 Lamana Road in Mordialloc.
