A YOUNG BMX star from Frankston is flying high after a big win at a national competition this month. 10-year-old Harla Sinclair, a member of the Frankston BMX Club, joined 2000 other competitors at the Australian BMX Championships in Perth between 8 October and 12 October. She won the 8-10 Girls Cruiser category, and finished third in the 10 Girls 20” division.

Sinclair has now qualified for the 2025 UCI BMX World Championships in Denmark. She said “I loved my week in Perth. I had goals to win the 8-10 Girls Cruiser category and to go top 3 in 10 Girls 20”, and I ticked both of them off.” “I loved racing the fastest girls on bikes in Australia but the best part was leaving with new friends from all over the country,” she said.

Harla’s father Mick Sinclair said his daughter “was so determined in the lead-up to the National Championships in Perth. She trained most nights at home and with her coach at the track. Her determination blows me away, and she’s striving for the Olympics one day.”
