A MAN has been charged with murder after a fatal alleged assault in Cheltenham.
A man was allegedly seriously assaulted at a property on Warrigal Road just before 10pm on 16 December. Emergency services soon arrived, but the 27-year-old Berwick man was declared dead at the scene.
Police arrested a 28-year-old Cheltenham man at the scene in relation to the alleged assault. In a statement, Victoria Police said “investigators allege the two men were known to each other.
“A crime scene has been established and Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
On 17 December, Victoria Police confirmed that the Cheltenham man had been charged with murder. He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 19 December.
