THE former home of the Belvedere Community Centre, a council-owned building in Seaford, is going up for sale.
Last week, Frankston councillors voted to sell off the 36 Belvedere Road site. The money from the sale will be set aside to use on future property acquisitions.
The building on the site was used by the Belvedere Community Centre Inc, previously known as Women’s Activities Group, since the early 1990s. The organisation relocated to the Healthy Futures Hub at 151 East Road in mid-2023.
The proposal to sell the land prepared by Frankston Council officers read that “the land is considered surplus to council’s operational service delivery requirements.”
The sale of the land will be “subject to any required due diligence and statutory or administrative steps, including the removal of the reserve status and demolition of the existing improvements prior to sale”, the motion read. “Any submissions received in response to the public notice that are opposed to the proposal [will] be presented to council for consideration at a future meeting.”
Council’s CEO will be authorised to progress the sale if council does not receive any opposing submissions.
