KINGSTON Seniors Festival is underway, with more than 100 events scheduled across October.
Events on the line-up include author talks, social catch-ups, nature walks, retirement and aged care information sessions, movies, fashion, craft, fitness classes, live music, dancing, and games. Kingston mayor Cr Georgina Oxley “the Seniors Festival is a great chance to get out, try something new, learn something, meet people and have some fun.”
“With more than 100 free and low-cost events and activities on offer, there really is something for everyone. But the Festival is about more than what’s on the program, it’s about people,” Cr Oxley said. “Our older residents bring so much to Kingston through their knowledge, experience, stories, friendships and contributions to our community, and this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that while creating new connections.
“Staying socially connected is an important part of living a happy and healthy life. Sometimes it can be as simple as sharing a coffee, joining a group, learning something new or having a chat with someone you haven’t met before.
“I encourage everyone to take a look through the program, find something that catches your eye and head along. You might discover a new interest, meet someone new or simply enjoy a great day out with friends.”
