A MORDIALLOC life saver won five medals at an event on the Gold Coast this month.
Jemma Holt competed at the Surf Life Saving Australia Pool Rescue Championships. She won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Mordialloc’s team consisted of Jemma Holt, her older sister Paige Holt, and her father Jonathan Holt. Cooper and Kieran Roach rounded out the team.
Holt said that winning five medals was a “pretty incredible feeling.”
“I’ve been working hard all winter, including the pool lifesaving competition here in Victoria and attending the Royal Life Saving Society Australia’s national competition as part of the Victorian state team during June,” Holt said. “I love knowing that I’ve not only pushed myself to the limit athletically, but that the skills I gain through pool lifesaving might help me to save a life someday.
“I’m really excited that next year’s Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships will be held on home soil in Victoria. Victoria always competes well in pool lifesaving so hopefully we can impress the home crowd with some good results. I’m also looking forward to a great summer season – it will be my first season in the ski so I’ve already been training at this new skill in addition to my winter pool and swim training.”
