RED Hill managed to grab a win over Mornington in a final over thriller on Saturday.
Batting first at Alexandra Park, Mornington put 161 runs on the board. Ryan Smith top-scored with 47 runs.
Red Hill’s run chase hit a few early snags when Cameron Moon bowled out their top order. A late partnership between Thomas Lewis and Matthew Gray saved the day.
Lewis hit 34 from 29 deliveries and Gray hit 16 from 22. They dragged Red Hill over the line for a three-wicket win with three balls left to spare.
The result means Red Hill will go into the Christmas break on top of the ladder. Pines is second after succumbing to defeat against Dromana at Eric Bell Reserve.
A brilliant century from Rhys Elmi helped Baden Powell beat Heatherhill on Saturday.
Rhys Elmi smashed 117 from 96 balls. Dale Elmi also contributed, scoring 67 from 46. Travis Kellerman scored an unbeaten 50 from 34 balls.
Baden Powell scored a formidable 6/295 from their 40 overs. Heatherhill fought valiantly, but ended up defeated by 55 runs.
Tahsinullah Sultani was Heatherhill’s best – he scored 68 from 37 deliveries.
Sorrento narrowly beat Langwarrin last weekend. Some excellent bowling saw the Sharks wrap up a nine-run victory.
PENINSULA
BALNARRING will finish 2025 on top of the ladder after a comfortable win over Seaford.
Seaford batted first at Balnarring Recreation Reserve on Saturday. They failed to make an impact on the scoreboard, and were bowled out for just 91 runs.
Balnarring wrapped up an eight wicket win after 22 overs. Mark Walles hit the winning runs – he scored 40 from 60 deliveries.
Long Island scored a hard-fought win over Moorooduc last weekend.
Long Island set Moorooduc a total of 194 to chase down. Harry Cullingford top-scored with an impressive 68 from 90 deliveries.
Moorooduc chipped away at their target, but ended up falling short. They were bowled out for 159.
Avindu Fernando was Long Island’s best bowler, taking 3/19.
Rosebud bowled well to defend their total of 155 last weekend against Mt Eliza. Somerville closed out the weekend with a win over Old Peninsula.
DISTRICT
AN unbeaten century from Gordon Waterfall has helped Carrum Downs finish the year with a win.
Carrum Downs hosted Boneo at Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve on Saturday. Boneo batted first, and put 210 runs on the scoreboard from their 40 overs.
After losing an opener early, Gordon Waterfall came in and took control of the run chase, He smashed an unbeaten 100 from 103 balls to help guide his side to victory.
Carrum Downs won by seven wickets with two overs left to spare.
Rye held on for dear life to beat Flinders last weekend.
Batting first on their home deck, Rye scored 191 runs. Jordan Blades top-scored, opening the batting and scoring 54.
Flinders came close to reaching their target, but time ended up being the enemy. They lost momentum in the middle of their innings, and ended up falling seven runs short of a result.
Main Ridge were seven wicket winners over Carrum at home on Saturday. Crib Point comfortably beat Seaford Tigers.
SUB DISTRICT
BAXTER held on to beat Tootgarook in a close one on Saturday.
Batting first, Baxter set their opponents a target of 213 to score to win. Skipper Mark Cooper scored 79 from 109 deliveries.
Tootgarook’s run chase started well, before James Long took three wickets to put a halt to their momentum.
With time running out, Tootgarook suffered two late run outs. They were bowled out for 199 with five balls left to spare.
Delacombe Park’s total of 231 was more than enough to beat Pearcedale last weekend.
Bailey Daffy scored a half-century on Saturday for Delacombe Park. Ben Bradley Bridge hit a quickfire 45 from 24.
Pearcedale was bowled out for 136 in response.
Skye beat Ballam Park by five wickets, and Tyabb beat Frankston YCW to close out the round.
