FRANKSTON City Council is calling on residents, businesses, workers and visitors to get behind its Think Local campaign an initiative designed to celebrate and strengthen the city’s vibrant local business community.
Delivered in partnership with the Frankston Business Chamber, Think Local encourages people to consciously choose local businesses when shopping, dining or sourcing services. The message is simple: when you think, look and shop locally, you are directly investing in the future of Frankston City.
The campaign returns this June, shining a spotlight on the thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises that form the backbone of the local economy.
From cafés and retailers to trades, healthcare providers and creative industries, Frankston City is home to more than 44,000 businesses, each contributing to the area’s unique identity and prosperity.
Frankston City Council emphasises that supporting local business has a powerful ripple effect.
For every $100 spent with a local business, an average of $52 stays within the community, supporting jobs, suppliers and future investment.
Local business owner Clover from Creek and Bay in Seaford is one of the campaign’s featured Think Local Stars, helping to spread the message of community support.
“Shopping local directly supports real people, families, artists and small independent businesses within the community,” Clover said.
“Every purchase helps keep creative spaces alive, supports local employment and allows businesses like ours to continue creating opportunities for artists and inclusive community connection. It keeps character and individuality in our local area instead of everything becoming mass-produced and impersonal.”
The campaign also highlights the broader role local businesses play in shaping Frankston City’s identity as a place to live, work and visit. By supporting them, residents contribute to a more vibrant, diverse and resilient community, one where innovation, creativity and personal connection can thrive.
Throughout Think Local Month, a range of activities, workshops, competitions and promotions will be held to engage businesses and the community alike, encouraging everyone to get involved and discover the depth of talent across Frankston City.
Frankston City businesses can access free training from industry experts in topics such as AI, Tax, Target Market, Branding, Social Media Content Creation and more.
Ultimately, the Think Local message is about more than just where you spend, it’s about who you support. Every purchase, no matter how small, contributes to a stronger local economy, more local jobs and a thriving community that reflects the character of Frankston City.
This June, residents are encouraged to make a conscious choice: think local first and help shape the future of Frankston City.
