FRANKSTON’S waterfront has a striking new attraction, with the installation of Flyway on the iconic Frankston Pier as part of the Frankston Regional Arts Trail.
The new sculpture enhances one of Frankston’s most recognisable landmarks, encouraging residents and visitors to experience the Pier in a new way while engaging with the city’s unique coastal environment.
Created by Taiwanese-Australian artist Yu-Fang Chi, Flyway is inspired by the migratory birds that travel the East Asian–Australasian Flyway and the local birdlife along Frankston’s shoreline. Installed along the Pier, the sculptural forms respond to wind, water, and light, creating a changing experience as people move through and around the artwork.
Frankston City Mayor Sue Baker said Flyway highlights the city’s commitment to creating vibrant public places.
