AN accessible changing room is being built on the Frankston Waterfront to help people with disabilities enjoy the beach.
Frankston Beach was the location of an accessibility pilot program last summer, which is set to return this year. The latest accessibility measure to be implemented is the addition of a “Changing Places” facility.
The new changeroom features an adult-sized height-adjustable change table, a ceiling hoist system, and additional space for carers. A similar facility has also been installed at the George Pentland Botanic Garden play space.
The Changing Places facility, scheduled to open in December, was jointly funded by Frankston Council and the federal government. Dunkley MP Jodie Belyea said “Australia’s Most Accessible Beach has put Frankston on the map for accessible tourism and recreation. This investment builds on that momentum and ensures the infrastructure at Frankston’s waterfront continues to meet the needs of residents and visitors with disabilities, their families and carers.”
