A TEENAGER was arrested at Carrum Downs Shopping Centre last week after he was allegedly caught concealing a machete.Police attended the Hall Road site at around 3.30pm on 10 November after receiving a report that a person was wielding a machete. When they arrived, police allege they saw a person with a machete hidden down their pants.Police seized the machete and spoke to two 17-year-old boys from Carrum Downs. Bayside police officers have arrested the alleged driver of a speeding vehicle in Melbourne’s southern suburbs early hours this morning. Police caught sight of a white Holden Commodore in the back streets of Brighton about 1.30am. The Holden was allegedly spotted at speeds exceeding 200km/h on the Nepean Highway. The vehicle was later seen entering a carpark on Jamieson Street in Cheltenham before the occupants left the car. Officers searched the area and arrested the alleged driver. THE recipients of Frankston Council’s latest round of community grants have been announced, with $130,000 set to be shared between 34 not-for-profits. Grants worth between $1500 and $7500 were awarded to groups whose work includes food relief, inclusive sport, seniors’ wellbeing, arts and culture, Aboriginal wellbeing, and support for pets. Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation was among the grant recipients. NAIRM Marr Djambana has signed a 50-year lease at its Jubilee Park home, allowing the not-for-profit to continue its work improving outcomes for First Nations people.
