THE RSPCA has issued a warning to animal owners as the Summer heat ramps up. During last week’s hottest day, RSPCA Victoria said it had received 20 heat-related reports. A MENTONE man has been charged with murder after an alleged stabbing in Melbourne’s CBD. A 19-year-old Mentone man was allegedly found with multiple stab wounds on King Street in the early hours of 11 January. The man died at the scene. Later that morning, police arrested another 19-year-old man from Mentone on Aurora Lane. He was charged with one count of murder and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 12 January. Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested two girls following an alleged assault at Mordialloc Beach last week. Investigators were told the victim, a 13-year-old girl, attended the beach about 1.30pm on 17 December. It is alleged she was approached by two girls before being assaulted near a toilet block close to Mordialloc Pier. A man aged in his 50-60s intervened and stopped the assault. The two girls left the area. The victim sustained minor injuries. Two 15-year-old girls both from the Casey area were arrested and interviewed on 26 December. The exhibition recognises the significance of paper as a material which demonstrates a particular kind of strength and permanence.
