THE pioneer of a program helping children build their social skills has been elected Kingston’s junior mayor. The new Kingston junior council was appointed late last month. Isabella Koukoumanos, a grade six student from Our Lady of the Assumption, was elected the junior mayor for 2024/2025.Koukoumanos and her team members presented a speech about the Kingston Pen Pals Program to win the position. DESIGNS for the redeveloped Mordialloc Station have been released.The new Mordialloc railway station will be built as part of level crossing removal works at McDonald Street in Mordialloc and Station Street in Aspendale – two new rail bridges will be built to replace them.Early works are expected to begin at the level crossing later this year. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026 – the state government plans to remove all Frankston line level crossings by 2029.The redesigned Mordialloc Station (left) features improved accessibility, lighting, and landscaping. DOZENS of kilograms of rubbish was cleaned from Long Island last week after a joint effort by two community groups. Volunteers from 3198 Seaford BeachPatrol and 3199 Frankston Beach Patrol linked up to clean the beach at Long Island. The venture coincided with the ninth anniversary of the two groups.In total, 36 kilograms of waste was removed from the beach by a team of 37 volunteers. BUSES will replace trains on the Frankston line until 26 June.The train line and some surrounding roads will close to allow for level crossing removal works at Warrigal Road, Mentone and Parkers Road, Parkdale. The removals are part of the state government’s plan to make the Frankston line level crossing-free by 2029.Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Mordialloc stations from 8.30pm on 14 June until last service on 16 June.
