THE Patterson River precinct is set for a multi-million dollar upgrade. The state government has committed to spending $3 million on upgrades at the upper precinct, which encompasses the National Water Sports Centre in Bangholme, and $3.5 million on the Launching Way area. The upper precinct will benefit from upgraded pathways, the construction of viewing areas, vegetation works, and design works on a new multipurpose building. TWO people have been arrested and charged in relation to the theft of around half a million dollars in power tools across suburbs in Melbourne’s south-east. The tools were allegedly stolen from unlocked trailers, cars, and shops in Chadstone, Cheltenham, Dandenong, Frankston, Melbourne, Mornington, and Narre Warren. The alleged thefts took place between March and May this year. On 24 May police arrested a 33-year-old Cranbourne man and a 28-year-old Cranbourne woman. They were both charged with nearly 50 theft related charges including handling of stolen goods, going equipped to steal, theft, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.…

A FRANKSTON artist is getting ready for the opening of her first public exhibition. Brodie Alserda’s Through Her Eyes opens this week. Her work will be displayed at the Mezzanine Gallery in the Frankston Arts Centre foyer. Alserda has been diagnosed with autism, schizophrenia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She currently resides at Haven Frankston. THE Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre has cleared its waitlist for lessons after a difficult start to the year. The aquatic centre was impacted by a shortage of swim teachers, which has affected swimming programs nationally. Peninsula Leisure started a recruitment initiative earlier this year which has helped PARC staff catch up. The Swim Teacher Active Recruitment Program covered the costs of swim teaching qualifications and offered payment to prospective teachers for in-water training hours. A DOCUMENTARY about the serial killer who murdered three young women around Frankston is set to premiere next month. Revealed: No Mercy, No Remorse will air on streaming service Stan. Documentary filmmaker Terry Carlyon and veteran crime reporter John Silvester developed the project. 18-year-old Elizabeth Stevens, 22-year-old Deborah Fream, and 17-year-old Natalie Russell were all murdered by the same killer around Frankston in 1993.
