AN underground lights show is one of the highlights of the South Side Festival calendar. The South Side Festival begins in Frankston this week. As part of the festival the “Frankston Generator” experience has been set up at the underground car park at Frankston Arts Centre. The lights show features more than a thousand lighting fixtures, as well as music, a wind tunnel, and interactive screens. Frankston mayor Nathan Conroy said that the festival would bring “a wide array of contemporary multi arts ranging from theatre, live music, visual arts exhibitions, immersive experiences, installations, workshops, markets and everything in between.” …

LABOR has promised to fund a new “Medicare Urgent Care Clinic” in Frankston if it wins the federal election. The federal opposition has announced it will spend $135 million over four years to fund trials of 50 urgent care centres statewide. It hopes that the centres will make it easier for people to access urgent bulk billed medical care. One of the centres will be near Frankston Hospital. Dunkley MP Peta Murphy welcomed the plans. Police are investigating a collision that has left a pedestrian critically injured in Frankston. Emergency services were called to reports of the collision at the intersection of Beach Street and McMahons Road shortly after 3.30pm, Wednesday 27 April. Although the exact circumstances are yet to be determined, it is believed the collision occurred at a pedestrian crossing at the McMahons Road on-ramp to the Moorooduc Highway. The male pedestrian has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and is assisting police with their enquiries. AN online rental scam has been gaining traction. Scammers have been posting photos of houses online then collecting rental money from them upfront before disappearing. Victoria Police have put out a statement warning people to be wary of the ploy. “The scammers post a picture of a house for rent and then ask for money upfront and in some circumstances send a fake rental agreement through,” the statement read. “Do not fall for this scam. A MAN who was allegedly caught masturbating on a bus is wanted by police. Police allege that a victim boarded a bus at Mordialloc Railway Station at around 4.40pm on 22 March. A man changed seats to be in the victim’s line of sight, then began masturbating, police say. Images of a man (above) police wish to speak to about the incident have been released.
