KINGSTON Council will spend $2.3 million to give the shopping strip along Nepean Highway in Edithvale a facelift. The stretch of shops between Bank Road and Carrington Street are due to benefit from the upgrade. The funds for the project were originally designated for works at the nearby level crossing, but were redirected after the state government agreed to stump up more cash for maintenance on LXRP projects. POLICE are searching for a man they say was involved in an “incident” in the underground car park on Nepean Highway, Frankston. Police say that the man was armed with a hammer when the incident occurred on 29 March this year. An image of a man (above) police wish to speak to has been released. A DOG is helping kids at Frankston Library improve their reading abilities. The canine companion is at the library as part of the Reading Tails program, designed for kids aged 7 to 13. Shirley the dog accompanies children while they read. AN underground lights show is one of the highlights of the South Side Festival calendar. The South Side Festival begins in Frankston this week. As part of the festival the “Frankston Generator” experience has been set up at the underground car park at Frankston Arts Centre. The lights show features more than a thousand lighting fixtures, as well as music, a wind tunnel, and interactive screens. Frankston mayor Nathan Conroy said that the festival would bring “a wide array of contemporary multi arts ranging from theatre, live music, visual arts exhibitions, immersive experiences, installations, workshops, markets and everything in between.” …
LABOR has promised to fund a new “Medicare Urgent Care Clinic” in Frankston if it wins the federal election. The federal opposition has announced it will spend $135 million over four years to fund trials of 50 urgent care centres statewide. It hopes that the centres will make it easier for people to access urgent bulk billed medical care. One of the centres will be near Frankston Hospital. Dunkley MP Peta Murphy welcomed the plans.
