THE federal opposition will spend $440 million on upgrades and programs at schools to help kids recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic if it wins the election. Grants from the state government’s outdoor dining program and from the Frankston Revitalisation Board have been helping businesses set up shop outside. Council has also been running a campaign, Do It Outdoors 2.0, to incentivize and encourage restaurants to set up outdoor dining. PENINSULA Aquatic Recreation Centre was a big winner at the Aquatics and Recreation Victoria awards this year. The Frankston pool and gym was named the health club of the year. PARC employee Pru Drago also won big on the night, taking home the award for personal trainer of the year. Award winner Pru Drago helps run PARC’s eight week challenge and small group personal training membership. She ran online programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. GRANTS of up to $10,000 are available through the South East Water 2022 community grants program. Successful grant applicants in 2021 included the Mornington Life Saving Club, Baxter Fire Brigade, Australian Marine Mammals Association, Nepean Conservation Group, Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association, and Food for Change.
