MORE restaurants have opened outdoor dining spaces in Frankston.

Grants from the state government’s outdoor dining program and from the Frankston Revitalisation Board have been helping businesses set up shop outside.

Council has also been running a campaign, Do It Outdoors 2.0, to incentivize and encourage restaurants to set up outdoor dining.

One restaurant that has recently opened their outdoor dining area to patrons is Gapfed. Its owner Greg Chronopoulis said “I feel like I am on a Greek Island somewhere, it’s just beautiful and our customers are loving it.”

Frankston mayor Nathan Conroy said that council was working to help create “vibrant, appealing spaces encouraging locals to get out and about once again”.

“We all know what a challenging time it’s been for the hospitality industry with the uncertainty the pandemic brings, so I encourage everyone to get out and make the most of these beautiful outdoor dining venues especially in this warmer weather we’re enjoying,” he said.
