DRUGS, cash, and motorcycles were seized by police last week during a raid at a Cheltenham property. Police executed a search warrant at an address on Railway Road at around 1pm, 28 August. Among the items they allegedly seized were cannabis, ketamine, cocaine, fireworks, cash, and two motorcycles. A 20-year-old Cheltenham man was arrested and charged with 16 offences. They include storing unauthorised explosives, trafficking commercial quantity of drugs of dependence, and possess prohibited weapon. He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 29 October. CHELTENHAM Station has been officially reopened. The old station was torn down this year as part of level crossing removal works. After two months of construction, the new station is completed. Eight stations have been replaced or remodelled on the Frankston line as part of level crossing removal works. Four more are still scheduled to be redeveloped too. The new Cheltenham Station has two sets of lifts and stairs and a new forecourt and community open space. A multi-level car park is set to be completed next year. CARRUM Downs will soon be home to a new enclosed dog park. A fenced area will be constructed in Sandfield Reserve. Council received an $87,000 grant from the state government to get started on the project. Sandfield Reserve also features a playground, basketball court, and recently upgraded skatepark. PEDESTRIAN operated signals will be installed on a Carrum Downs road where a 92-year-old woman was hit and killed last year. Frankston Council announced last week that it had secured just under $744,000 from the federal government for improvement works at McCormicks Road. A total of $788,000 towards works on the O’Gradys Road and Frankston-Dandenong Road intersection in Carrum Downs, and $198,000 towards the McClelland Road and Skye Road intersection in Langwarrin was also locked in. A total of 618 staff members were sent into isolation after an outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the hospital this month. As of 29 August, 68 cases have been linked to the hospital.
