AN assault on a bus between Frankston and Mornington last month is being investigated by police. Police believe that two students were assaulted on the bus at around 2.45pm on 15 June. Transit Crime Investigation Unit is handling the investigation. Detectives have released an image of people (below) they wish to speak to help with their investigation. A WHALE relaxing in the water at Aspendale beach last week attracted a small crowd of curious onlookers. The whale was spotted on 8 July. The next day a whale believed to be the same one was spotted in Mornington. Victoria’s Conservation Regulator states that recreational boaters must remain 200 metres from whales, while “high impact vessels” like jet skis must remain 300 metres away. Swimmers are not allowed within 50 metres of a whale. UPGRADE works to Thompsons Road have been completed at a final cost of $225 million to taxpayers. The conclusion of works at the intersection of Frankston-Dandenong Road and Thompsons Road signalled the end of the project. The roundabout at the intersection was removed and replaced with lights. Works at the intersection ran for five weeks, with detours in place during the duration. The intersection has been widened to include two right-turn lanes, three through-lanes, and slip lanes. KINGSTON Council believes that false rate notices may be circulating around the municipality. Council put out a warning about the fraudulent notices last week. Kingston rates notices will not be sent out until next month. A statement put out on council’s Facebook page read “we’ve been made aware of a potential scam involving fake rates notices. Moorabbin Criminal Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify a man following a burglary in Mentone last month. It is believed an unknown man has gained entry to the underground carpark on Collins Street about 9am on 25 June. The man forced a roller door and then forced the padlocks open on some storage cages.
