SCAMMERS are targeting businesses and homes in Frankston and Langwarrin pretending to be VicRoads workers. VicRoads issued a statement last week which read that the organisation had been “alerted to six cases of people being scammed across Melbourne with the fake workers targeting businesses and homes in areas including Craigieburn, Frankston, and Langwarrin.” VicRoads says that one person was scammed out of $20,000 by fake workers who offered to fix his driveway. “In the most serious case, two men claiming to be working for VicRoads and displaying fake VicRoads identification, knocked on the door of a house in Langwarrin and…

A man has been arrested after he allegedly rushed at police with what was reported to be a machete in Frankston last night (9 February). Police arrived at Ashleigh Avenue, locating the armed man just before 9pm. The man rushed at attending police and one officer discharged his firearm which didn’t strike the man. He was subsequently sprayed and arrested by police, who were not injured. The man who is believed to be aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital for assessment. Transit Divisional Response Unit detectives charged two teenagers following a series of thefts from cars in Melbourne’s south. It is alleged offenders broke into more than 50 cars at four train station carparks including Cranbourne, Hallam, Berwick and Merinda Park on Thursday 30 January. Two Frankston boys, aged 14 and 16, have both been charged with more than 100 theft and criminal damage related offences. They will appear at a children’s court at a later date. Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested six teenagers following a stabbing in Mordialloc on Friday 24 January. It is alleged a 15-year-old boy was approached by a number of unknown youths on Main Street when they made demands for his property before assaulting him about 2.30pm. The boy received a stab wound and serious head injuries and was taken to hospital. All parties are known to each other. Detectives arrested six teenagers this morning.
