VOLUNTEER fishers working as citizen scientists to tag, release and report the capture of King George whiting in Port Phillip and Western Port bays is helping improve our knowledge of their behaviour. COMMUNITY consultation has closed in response to a new facility for the Mentone Lifesaving Club. The proposed new facility is expected to cost around $12 million. POLICE operation ARGUS, which ran until 1 September, saw 4577 breath tests administered to drivers in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula areas. The four day operation saw eleven drink drivers caught. 14 drug drivers were detected from 228 tests administered. Police detected 289 other offences including speeding and mobile phone use. An Uber driver found themselves in trouble when they ran a red light at the intersection of Cranbourne Road and Beach Street and hit another car.
