A PROMINENT playground at the Frankston Waterfront is getting a $1.25 million makeover for families to enjoy. Frankston councillors voted behind closed doors after the public council meeting on Monday 23 April to spend the money over two financial years to upgrade the playground near the foreshore, known for its highly-visible “pixie hat” steel cone roofs. DRONE technology brought out the best in photographer Joshua Brnjac with his bird’s eye view photograph winning best picture at this year’s Picture This award. The 16-year-old used a drone to capture a surfer from above in his winning Lone Surfer, Into the Depths entry. “The level of talent on show by our local youth is always inspiring and this year was no different,” Kingston mayor Cr Steve Staikos said. A DESIGN to replace the ageing Edithvale Life Saving Club has finally been accepted by a state government department after initial plans were knocked back for not complying with environmental regulations.
