FISHERIES Victoria has called for public comment on proposed new rules to reduce the killing of stingrays, skates and guitarfish but an action group wants killing completely banned. Fisheries is proposing cutting the bag limit from five rays a day a person to one; a 400-metre exclusion zone around human-made structures including jetties, piers and break walls; and a ban on killing rays over 1.5 metres wide. A 42-YEAR-OLD man has had his car impounded for 30 days after he was pulled over by police for drink driving in Karingal on Thursday night. Police intercepted the man’s Ford Falcon in Mimosa Court at 11.30pm. He was breath tested and allegedly returned a reading of 0.203 per cent. He was also allegedly driving without a licence. POLICE are hunting a man who grabbed the arm of a 17-year-old Carrum Downs girl and tried to force her into his car. Detective Senior Constable John Melhuish, of Frankston CIU, said the girl was walking along Carrington Cr, about midday on Tuesday 27 June, when the man driving a silver Mitsubishi sedan pulled up alongside her. MENTAL health sufferers on the Mornington Peninsula now have access to a six bed psychiatric assessment and planning unit. The unit will streamline the time spent in the busy emergency department at Frankston Hospital. Peninsula Health supports up to 450 mental health patients at any one time with the demand for inpatient services expected to grow by 10 per cent over the next decade. A FRANKSTON gym director said the Health Department had confirmed that it “appears unlikely” that a gymnasium’s spa was the source of a legionella outbreak reported last week.
