AWARD-WINNING author George Ivanoff will cap off another year of Author for All Seasons sessions at Mentone Public Library this weekend. The Cheltenham resident will talk about his Royal Flying Doctor Service books, “a high-octane adventure series for children”, written in partnership with the high-flying medical service. Each book is a standalone story and the series does not need to be read in any particular order. A RIBBON-cutting ceremony for new playground equipment at Monterey Secondary College last week turned sour for motorbike-riding Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke when his bike was stolen from the staff car park. Frankston police said CCTV showed two offenders checking out the $20,000 red and white Yamaha R1 bike and then using another bike to tow it away, 1.50pm, Wednesday 30 November. It is not known if they are students. The Labor MP declined to comment on the theft but confirmed the motorbike theft. Frankston detectives are investigating the theft of the bike. No one from the school would comment.

BEACHGOERS are reminded to keep their distance from seals resting on beaches in Western Port and Port Phillip bays beaches. Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning manager program manager Suraya VI said some seals may appear sick or emaciated, but should not be approached under any circumstances. “While we understand that seeing a seal in poor condition may be upsetting, approaching the seal or trying to move it will cause an already stressed animal further distress,” she said. “If people sighted seals or seal pups lying on the beach, leave them in peace and enjoy their presence from afar.…
