A MOTORIST pulled over for talking on his mobile phone “really fired up” before being involved in a scuffle with Highway Patrol police in Frankston, Wednesday morning. A CARRUM youth has been arrested and charged with armed robbery after a 16-year-old party-goer in Langwarrin was threatened with a baseball bat and knife, 1am, Sunday 6 September. A house in Laura St, Aspendale, was ransacked by burglars, 10.30am-4.15pm, Friday, and cash, jewellery, power tools, and alcohol stolen. A NEW York-based philanthropic fund is helping finance a new employment skills program to help up to140 locally unemployed young people in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. The unveiling on Friday of the new Brotherhood of St Laurence program, Creating Futures for Youth, coincided with the release of figures showing youth unemployment in the area was nearly 20 per cent.
