IN January last year Lindsay Davies lost his son Jayden to bone cancer (osteosarcoma) when he was 17. Jayden was a talented sportsman, and loved footy, cricket and being with his mates, he said. Inspired by Jayden’s “strength, guts and dignity”, Mr Davies is embarking on the Ride to Conquer Cancer for a second year. “It is an honour to ride in Jayden’s team: ‘Hope Is stronger Than Fate’, he said. The 48-year-old has not been seen or heard from since leaving her home on Wednesday 15 April. A NEW volunteer is on the lookout for members. Penny Donovan is calling on the Aspendale community to work together to take pride in the look of Aspendale train station, the gateway for many visitors to the suburb. The Friends of the Aspendale Station will follow in the tracks of the Chelsea Bonbeach Train Station Group which has organised clean ups and shrub plantings at the Chelsea and Bonbeach train stations for several years. Ms Donovan said she hoped the new group can install a mosaic at Aspendale train station with the help of St Louis de Montfort’s School pupils.…

THE police Air Wing and Dog Squad were called in to help Frankston detectives arrest a 14-year-old boy in Mornington on Wednesday night. He was later charged with 29 offences, including serious assault, aggravated burglary, evading police, and car stealing. While running from police the boy was bitten on the leg by a police dog and required to spend the night at Frankston hospital. He was charged next morning and remanded to appear at a children’s court at a date to be fixed.
