MORE than $6000 was raised for local community groups at a rubber duck race in Frankston earlier this month. The inaugural Duck Derby was organised by Rotary Peninsula 2.0. A little more than 600 rubber ducks were sent into Kananook Creek to race. Police are investigating a fatal crash which occurred in Carrum Downs on Wednesday. Emergency services were called to Peninsula Link in Carrum Downs about 8pm on 22 February after reports a motorcycle had crashed. Investigators believe the motorcycle had exited from Eastlink and was travelling south along Peninsula Link before the rider lost control and crashed. The rider of the motorcycle, a yet to be formally identified man, died at the scene. A FREE skating event aimed at young people will take place in Chelsea this weekend. Skate of Mind 2023 takes place at Bicentennial Park in Chelsea on Sunday, 26 February. The event is for novices and seasoned experts alike. The event will feature competitions, food trucks, and live music from local young people. Competitors must be aged between 12 and 25 and live, work or study within the Kingston local government area. KINGSTON Council has approved a new youth strategy which will shape its programs and services aimed at young people. The new action plan outlines ways that council hopes to support residents aged between 12 and 25 in the next four years. The strategy reads that young people need to be “supported, acknowledged, connected,” and “prepared”. THREE people living with disabilities have received help to move out of hospital and aged care, and into a new specially designed home in Frankston. 39-year-old Alicia, 38-year-old Nick, and 60-year-old Craig will live in the Specialist Disability Accommodation property.
