A FACEBOOK post made by a Frankston councillor comparing a proposed social media policy to life in the Soviet Union has been labelled “extremely offensive”. Cr Steven Hughes made a post last week criticising proposed changes to council’s social media guidelines. The post and accompanying image have been described as “shocking” by the mayor. A RATE cut has been discussed by Frankston councillors, although it would come at a huge estimated cost to council’s budget. New councillors Steven and Liam Hughes have proposed that ordinary rates be slashed by greater than or equal to 1 per cent. THE state government has defended a proposal to put train stabling on the former Delta landfill site in Heatherton. Transport infrastructure minister Jacinta Allan says that the Heatherton site is “the best location for the stabling of Suburban Rail Loop trains.
