DUNKLEY MP Peta Murphy says that there are “serious doubts” about the effectiveness of the cashless welfare card. The cashless welfare card system sees 80 per cent of money from Centrelink payments received by welfare recipients placed onto a card, where it cannot be withdrawn. The money on the card also cannot be used to buy alcohol or on gambling products. THE Save Kingswood group will make a submission to the newly formed Golf Course Redevelopment Standing Advisory Committee in a bid to shape the future of land at Dingley Village’s Peninsula Kingswood golf course. The 54-hectare Kingswood site was purchased for $125 million in 2014, and ASRP1 took possession of the land on 31 January. DIVISION ONE DROMANA have made history by winning the MPNFL Division One and Division Two premierships in consecutive years. The Tigers travelled to Frankston Park on Sunday to take on powerhouse club Sorrento in a much anticipated Grand Final showdown. A FRANKSTON councillor has claimed that his “reasonable freedom of speech” was infringed when his column was removed from the Frankston City News before publication. Cr Glenn Aitken penned a column about council’s code of conduct for the May/June edition of the newsletter. The Frankston City News is a ratepayer funded publication put out by council that is distributed every two months. Councillors pen one column for each edition of the newsletter. A DAY on the water will now be cheaper for boating enthusiasts in Frankston. Boat ramp fees were abolished at Kananook Creek and Olivers Hill last week. Boat ramp parking permits will no longer be issued and casual parking fees will be removed for people parking with boat trailers.
