A BILL which would keep Frankston serial killer Paul Denyer behind bars for good has been rejected by the state government. Denyer murdered Elizabeth Stevens, Deborah Fream, and Natalie Russell in 1993. He is now eligible for parole having served a 30-year sentence. The bill would have prevented Denyer from making repeated parole applications – similar restrictions have been placed on Julian Knight and Russell Street bomber Craig Minogue in the past. MPNFL DIVISION ONE FRANKSTON Bombers picked up a narrow win over Bonbeach on Saturday. Bonbeach has been struggling this year. They have picked up just one win for the season, but have played better football in recent weeks. The Bombers have their sights set on finals, and came into the match as strong favourites. A CONTROVERSIAL proposal to change Frankston’s planning guidelines has been approved. Frankston Council finalised its FMAC structure plan at a meeting last Wednesday, 14 June. The plan has been in the works for more than a year, and will now be put to the state government’s planning minister. The new FMAC structure plan outlines “preferred building heights” for future developments in the Frankston municipality. Opponents of the structure plan are concerned that the preferred heights can be exceeded at council’s discretion. THE planned redevelopment of Rossdale Golf Club’s Aspendale golf course should be halted until further investigations take place, Kingston Council says. The Rossdale Golf Club has concluded the first stage of consultation on a proposed rezoning of its Aspendale course. Kingston Council has since agreed to write to the planning minister flagging “serious concerns” about the process. KINGSTON Council has agreed to release $5 million in funding to the Hawthorn Football Club for works at its Dingley Village homebase. Hawthorn Football Club purchased a 28 hectare site at 370-440 Old Dandenong Rd and Lot 1 Grange Rd in 2016, and plans to move its training base to it. The football club hopes to move into the $103 million site, titled the Kennedy Community Centre, next year. The state government committed $15 million to the project in April.
