His skills and abilities in the area have been commended by him being named runner-up in the Victorian Government Learn Local Awards Outstanding Practitioner section last month. A BALL game at Frankston beach almost had fatal consequences for a teenage couple last Tuesday afternoon. Trying to retrieve the ball from the sea at about 2.45pm on Tuesday (6 October) an 18-year-old man and 15-year-old girl, both of Cranbourne, swam out in rough conditions but got into trouble in the rising waves and were in danger of being swept out further. Luckily, help was at hand: two bystanders on the pier heard their cries for help, jumped in and swam out 30 metres to rescue them. A YARN and textile import/export wholesaler in Jarrah Drive, Braeside, was almost driven out of business as a result of alleged repeated frauds by a former employee, Kingston police say. Their investigations have uncovered what they allege is a long series of deceptions totalling more than $1.3 million against the company.  Police claim the company’s former bookkeeper made 465 fraudulent transactions over eight years totalling $1.31 million. These were made up of transactions from as little as $100 to $4000. They say the “previously well respected” bookkeeper “double dipped” invoices by paying money to herself as well as suppliers. A MORDIALLOC motor vehicle restorer watched on in despair early yesterday (Tuesday 6 October) as fire tore through the business he had taken 15 years to build up. Leo Banks, whose Muscle Car Factory business in Japaddy St was well known for its full custom, pro-touring and concourse re-finishes, was devastated with the loss of up to 25 cars in his workshop – some valued at up to $200,000. WHAT’S claimed to be a Victorian record blue fin tuna was caught just outside the Heads by a Mornington angler Wednesday. Abalone diver and keen fisherman Aaron Crocombe hooked his 163.65kg catch using a Pakula Mouse lure 9.30am and had it in the boat 20 minutes later.
