POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an alleged carjacking at The Gateway Shopping Centre in Langwarrin last Sunday (8 April).

A man, 28, got into the passenger seat of a dark green Holden ute in the carpark of the shopping centre at about 6.45pm on the Sunday evening.

The 20-year-old driver was forced to drive off and got out of the 2013 model ute about five minutes later. He did not suffer any injuries.

The vehicle was spotted in Langwarrin, Cranbourne and Clyde before being found dumped in Cranbourne.

A Cranbourne man was arrested over the alleged carjacking and is on remand. Senior Constable Nicholas Jung, of Frankston’s Crime Investigations Unit, would like to hear from any witnesses to the alleged carjacking or the ute’s movements in the hours after the incident.
