KINGSTON Council wants state government support to upgrade sports facilities for soccer, netball, football, cricket and bowls clubs.
Applications are now open for a number of sports facilities grants programs and Kingston Council has put forward a range of projects for investment.
Kingston mayor Cr Steve Staikos said council and the Victorian government had a strong track record of working together to fund new and improved facilities for sporting clubs.
“We’re keen to continue our strong partnership of investing in top-quality sporting facilities to transform ageing buildings into modern accessible multi-use centres that meet the needs of everyone including juniors, female and athletes with a disability,” Cr Staikos said.
“All the grants require council investment in the project in addition to Victorian government funding, and Kingston has put aside money in our future budgets to ensure these vital projects proceed if our grant applications are successful.
“I now call on the Victorian government to support these fantastic local projects.”
Council is applying for grants to upgrade Carrum’s Roy Gore Reserve, install hybrid synthetic turf at Edithvale Recreation Reserve and Keeley Park and sports lighting at Mordialloc’s Jack Grut Reserve among the sports projects.
