TWO local park projects will be completed after receiving a funding boost from the state government.
A new pocket park will be created in Moorabbin, and the off-leash dog area at Carrum’s Roy Dore Reserve will be expanded with the funding. Just under $1 million was awarded to council from the state government through the local parks program.
The land in Moorabbin was purchased by council in 2019. The mayor Georgina Oxley said “social isolation has reminded us all how important open green space is for our health and wellbeing so it’s fantastic to receive the news we can push ahead with the development of a new pocket park for the Moorabbin community and the Roy Dore Reserve off-leash dog park.” “Council has been investing heavily in recent years to improve our parks and open spaces across Kingston and we now have some fantastic parks, playgrounds, outdoor exercise centres and other facilities for the community to enjoy, plus more on the way,” she said.
Around the municipality, playgrounds in Dingley Village, Edithvale, Mordialloc, Aspendale Gardens, Clayton South, and Chelsea Heights are also set to receive upgrades. A new exercise area was recently opened at Barker Street Park in Cheltenham.
