A LEGENDARY local fisherman is the subject of a new mural at Mordialloc Railway Station. The mural, painted by renowned street artist Smug, depicts Terry Titchener. Titchener wears many hats, but he is most at home on the water. His fishing has taken him across the globe.

“I fish all around the world, originally I was running a charter boat out of Hastings,” he said. “I have sailed to New Zealand since then. I go over there to the international fishing competition. This will be my 49th year without missing that competition. “I’ve fished for New Zealand in Hawaii, and around America.”

The fisherman and business owner said “I’ve always lived in the area – I shifted from Aspendale to Parkdale in 1948, I’ve run a business in Braeside going for 60 years, and I’ve helped quite a few people over that period of time.”

In addition to his fishing and business achievements, Titchener runs a chainsaw and timber museum. He has collected 500 chainsaws for the collection.

The mural was commissioned by the Mordialloc Trader Association.
