ART lovers are invited to experience creativity in action when local artist Lily Walker paints live at Kingston Arts’ G3 Gallery in Parkdale on Saturday 8 August.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to watch Walker create a new oil painting, ask questions about her creative process and gain an insight into the techniques behind her work.
The live painting event coincides with Lily Walker’s current exhibition, Home Show, on display at G3 Gallery until 22 August.
The exhibition features a series of oil paintings exploring themes of intimacy, closeness and care within the context of suburban Melbourne. Through familiar settings and quiet moments, Walker invites viewers to examine the connection and disjunction between internal and external worlds, positioning domestic spaces as thresholds between the two.
A Naarm-based emerging artist, Lily Walker’s practice centres on painting ordinary moments with warmth and sensitivity, finding significance in the rituals, relationships and spaces that shape our daily lives.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, an aspiring painter or simply curious about how a work of art comes together, the free event offers a unique behind-the-scenes experience.
Lily Walker Painting Live takes place on Saturday 8 August, from 11am to 4pm, at G3 Gallery, Shirley Burke Theatre, 64 Parkers Road, Parkdale. Visitors are welcome to drop in throughout the day, with free admission.
Home Show is also free to visit and is open Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm until 22 August.
