A CHELSEA Heights tennis player has been named a finalist for the Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards. Mischa Ginns is in the running for the sportsperson of the year award in the community category. Ginns plays blind tennis at a state level and has established a local program to get other people involved as well. The awards ceremony will take place on 8 November. KINGSTON Council says it is “encouraged” by plans to incorporate elements of the old Parkdale Station into the planned rebuild of the train station. Earlier this month the Level Crossing Removal Project unveiled new plans for the redeveloped Parkdale Station precinct. It is planning to use the old station building in the new design. FLASH flooding and wild weather has been striking across Victoria this month, and Chelsea has been no exception. Chelsea SES received more than 10 calls for help on 7 October when flash flooding hit the area. Calls for assistance came from Bonbeach, Mentone, Aspendale, Chelsea Heights, and Chelsea. Houses on Sherwood Avenue were affected by rising flood waters (pictured). SES crews attended to pump water away from the badly affected areas. AN exhibition celebrating artworks by people living with autism and other disabilities will open next month. The initiative is run by Statewide Autistic Services. FOR the Bertram family, nursing runs in the bloodline. Sharell Bertram is the granddaughter of a nurse. She works in Chisholm’s nursing department and has recently welcomed her two daughters into the industry. Hannah and Isabelle Bertram have enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing course at Chisholm in Frankston.
